Thank you for your interest in Cooper Complete nutritional supplements. The following information is intended to help you understand what makes Cooper Complete products so unique. Should you have additional questions feel free to contact us by clicking here.
We take pride in the fact that we guarantee purity and potency on all Cooper Complete products. This means that the bottle contains the precise amount of vitamins and minerals that are listed on the label. We accomplish this task through testing at the manufacturing facility as well as through an independent lab to ensure that they comply with our standards. Many products that are available on the market do not go through this level of scrutiny.

Our products are also backed by scientific review. Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper and four of the leading researchers in the country formulated the products based on the most current scientific literature. The specific doses of vitamins and minerals were carefully chosen to reflect what the current research indicates is beneficial.
Probably the most important reason you should consider Cooper Complete is because it is the subject of ongoing research. As you can see in the report below, in 1999 we concluded a pilot study of Cooper Complete with impressive results. In January 2002, we will have results from a double blind, randomized, clinical trial of approximately 200 subjects. Our goal is to impact risk factors that are associated with heart disease, cancer and stroke.
The History of Cooper Complete
As consumers, we’d like to believe that what’s on the
label of a product is exactly what’s in the bottle.
Unfortunately when it comes to vitamins and supplements,
that’s not always the case. These products are
unregulated.
In 1994, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) passed DSHEA, the Dietary Supplement Health Education Act. In essence, DSHEA determined that vitamins and supplements are neither a food nor a drug, and therefore FDA approval is not required. Neither is research. As a result, consumers are at the mercy of manufacturers to ensure purity, quality, and to provide accurate information on the ingredients. However, with no enforcement, corners are often cut.
Solving the Problem
In a recent independent study of herbal supplements,
Dewes Research Laboratories in Mineral Wells, Texas
found that nearly half of the 40 supplements purchased
at Dallas area stores failed laboratory tests. In some
cases, capsules contained NO active ingredient at all
(see D Magazine, April 2000).
Similar results were reported by Dr. Natalie Eddington (director of the Pharmacokinetics-Biopharmaceutics Lab at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy) at the April 2000 conference of the American Nutraceutical Association. Her research of various products containing chondroitin found only about 16% contained what their labels claimed they did, with many of those tested having almost no supplement at all. Her studies on products containing glucosamine also found that many fell significantly shy of label claims.
In October 1999, John Cordaro, president of the Council for Responsible Nutrition, asked in his annual state of the industry address, "Are we only paying lip service to saying that we are a "science-based" industry? Are we making the dollar commitment to research and development needed to give more meaning to what a science-based industry should do?"
Making the Difference
As it turns out, that’s something Dr. Ken Cooper and
his colleagues began doing in 1997. The increasing
demand for a scientifically proven multivitamin and
mineral supplement prompted Dr. Cooper to develop a pure
product, based on scientific, peer-reviewed literature.
To help with the formulation, Dr. Cooper formed an advisory board with some of the most trusted and respected vitamin experts in the country, including Dr. Jacob Selhub from the Jean Mayer USDA Center for Nutrition and Aging at Tufts University in Boston. Dr. Selhub is an authority on vitamins B6, B12 and folic acid, and the role they play in the reduction of homocysteine levels. Homocysteine is considered by many to be the cholesterol of the 21st century. Also on the advisory board was Dr. Kenny Jialal, who is known for his research on antioxidants and their effect on the oxidation rate of LDL cholesterol.
After input from his advisors and an exhaustive review of the scientific literature, Dr. Cooper introduced Cooper Complete Multivitamins in February 1998. However, rather than launching a wide scale marketing campaign, Dr. Cooper immediately began an intervention blood study including 151 subjects taking Cooper Complete. The objectives of the study were to determine if Cooper Complete, when taken in prescribed dosage, could statistically lower homocysteine levels and the oxidation rate of LDL cholesterol. Another important objective was to determine how well the vitamins were absorbed.
The Results are In
The results of the Cooper Complete
intervention study were presented in November 1999 and
were quite impressive. Cooper Complete lowered
homocysteine levels by 13 percent, the oxidation rate of
LDL cholesterol by 32 percent, and the blood sugar by 4
percent, all statistically significant reductions. The
study also showed a significant increase in the levels
of the vitamins in the blood, which indicates that the
product is highly absorbable.
