You need more nuts in your life

Despite their high fat reputation these little power houses carry some pretty awesome benefits. The fat in nuts is healthy, including omega-3’s in walnuts, similar to what you find in fish, and monounsaturated fats like those in olives and canola oil. Whether you choose almonds, walnuts, peanuts, pecans, or pistachios, nuts are high in protein, fiber, and other nutrients. Research shows that people who eat about 1.5 ounces of nuts per day are at much lower risk of having their arteries clog than non-nut eaters. An ounce is a handful not a can full. For calorie counters it is interesting to note that eating nuts may dampen your appetite, putting the brakes on your tendency to overindulge. So add a handful of nuts to your next bowl of cereal or salad and enjoy!
