Brief Synopsis of Cooper Complete History
As you may know, Dr. Ken Cooper is known as the “Father of Aerobics.” He’s the author of 18 books and the founder of The Cooper Aerobics Center, a 30-acre facility in Dallas with seven divisions and 450 employees. The Cooper Institute houses the largest database on exercise in the world and has published over 600 scientific papers since 1975.
In 1996, Dr. Cooper coordinated with four of the world’s most renowned epidemiologists and scientists who specialize in human nutrition to help him formulate Cooper Complete multivitamins. This consultation board included, among others, Dr. Ishwarlal Jialal, an internationally renowned expert in diabetes, metabolism and diseases of the blood vessels, as well as Dr. Jacob Selhub from the Jean Meyer USDA Human Nutrition Center on Aging at Tufts University. Dr. Selhub is internationally recognized for his research of homocysteine, which has been hailed as the “cholesterol of the 21st century.” The goal was to find out if the formulation could lower the oxidation rate of LDL cholesterol as well as homocysteine levels. The results of the initial pilot study were outstanding, showing excellent absorption along with significant reduction of both oxidation rate of LDL cholesterol and homocysteine. Almost immediately, we then began a double-blind, placebo-clinical, clinical trial – the gold standard of studies in the scientific community.
As a company, we are committed to providing the finest products based on the latest peer-reviewed, scientific research. In July 2002 we concluded a double blind, clinical trail using Cooper Complete Iron Free. In October 2003 an article (which is enclosed in this packet) was published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition that shows the impact of Cooper Complete on homocysteine (minus 17.2%) and LDL cholesterol oxidation (minus 14.6%). Another manuscript from our clinical trial was reported in the December 2003 American Journal of Medicine showing the significant impact that Cooper complete has on inflammation as measured by C-reactive protein. C-reactive protein, which is secreted by the liver and indicates inflammation within the body, is now closely identified with heart disease. This is a very exciting area of research and one that is featured almost monthly in the major medical journals. The clinical trial showed Cooper Complete lowered CRP by 32%.
We are now studying Basic One and Advanced Omega-3 fatty acids. Research results should be available in late 2005 or early 2006.
The unique, patented formulation of Cooper Complete multivitamins were developed by Dr. Cooper and colleagues including researchers and epidemiologists from three major universities including:
• Iswarlal Jialal, M.D., Ph.D., chairman of the subcommittee on vitamin C for the Institute of Medicine. He is a world-renown authority on antioxidants and oxidation of LDL cholesterol.
• Jacob Selhub, Ph.D., Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Center at Tufts University. He is a highly acclaimed researcher on folate and homocysteine.
• Walter Willett, M.D., Ph.D., chairman of the nutrition department at Harvard School of Public Health.
• Scott Grundy, M.D., Ph.D., chairman of the center for human nutrition, UTSW.
