Homocysteine

Homocysteine has been referred to as the "cholesterol of the 21st century." Elevated levels are linked to heart disease, stroke, colon cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease. This substance is not inherently bad; in fact, it is a necessary by-product in the break down of the "essential" amino acid methionine, which is found primarily in red meat and dairy products. However, as with cholesterol, homocysteine may lose its balance because of genetics or poor diet. According to the latest research, the main concern is having too much homocysteine. It is measured in "micromoles per liter" and the Cooper Clinic recommends a level below 9 mml/dl.

In July 2002 we concluded a double blind, clinical trail using Cooper Complete Iron Free. In October 2003 an article was published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition that shows the impact of Cooper Complete on homocysteine (minus 17.2%) and LDL cholesterol oxidation (minus 14.6%).
