Eat Fish - Benefits of Omega-3 fatty acids
Omega-3 fatty acids improve cardiovascular measures such as blood pressure and triglycerides, and also help with inflammation, autoimmune diseases like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, and they’ve been shown repeatedly to help with mood maintenance. Omega-3s are also excellent nutrients for your eyes and skin.
Add Omega-3 to your diet by choosing fatty and cold water fish such as salmon, lake trout, mackerel, herring, anchovies, sardines, and white albacore tuna. Choose grilled salmon, trout almandine, your favorite pizza with the anchovies, or a tuna fish sandwich or salad made with white albacore tuna. Non-fish omega-3 sources include flaxseed, canola oil, and walnuts. Try adding ground flaxseed to a fruit smoothie, or your hot breakfast cereal. Or, use canola or walnut oil in your homemade salad dressing. A handful of walnuts is delicious, or include toasted walnuts on top of your cereal or salad, or in a homemade trail mix.
