What It Is

Cooper Complete® Eye Health Supplement provides key nutrients FloraGLO® lutein, bilberry, meso zeaxanthin and zeaxanthin, clinically proven to promote healthy eyes and vision.

How to Use:

As a dietary supplement, take two (2) softgels daily with a meal or as directed by your health care professional. Each bottle contains 60 servings.

How It Helps

Cooper Complete® Eye Health Supplement has been formulated to provide essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants clinically proven to promote eye health.

Since our eyes are so metabolically active, proper nutrition is vital to help maintain proper vision. Cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, and dry eyes become issues for many as we age. Lutein is an antioxidant that may protect the macula tissue from destructive oxidation reactions by quenching free radicals. Lutein also filters high-energy blue light that can damage the macula and skin. Research indicates lutein, zeaxanthin and zinc supplements may help to slow age-related macular degeneration progression, but it does not improve the condition.

Visual Processing and Performance

Since the 1990s, research has shown that lutein and zeaxanthin, carotenoids found at high levels in kale and spinach, can help lower the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the leading cause of blindness in adults over the age of 65. Now, research shows that these two nutrients,  when delivered in the proper doses, can also improve the visual “performance” of athletes.

In virtually every sport, the ability to “see” better and faster results in improved performance.

Consider in football the expectation for a quarterback to instantly determine whether to throw to one of three different receivers, dump a pass off to a running back, or tuck and run. Or for a receiver or defensive back, while running at full speed, to leap in traffic, locate the pass in bright sunshine or against glaring stadium lights, and then react to a tipped ball to make the catch.

Realize that a spike in volleyball can top 90 mph, a slap shot in hockey often exceeds 100 mph and serves in tennis routinely reach 124 mph for women and 140 mph for men.

As it turns out, nutrition plays an incredible role in how an athlete’s eyes perform during competition.

Eye Health Glare Recovery

A 2008 trial published in Optometry and Vision Science studied 40 healthy men and women with a mean age of 23.9 years. After four months of supplementation with 10 mg of lutein and 2 mg of zeaxanthin, glare recovery improved significantly. After six months, the subjects’ ability to tolerate glaring light improved by 58 percent, and the time to recover sight following exposure to bright light (photostress) improved by 5 seconds or 14 percent.

We all have experienced how our eyes need time to adjust from a brightly lit lobby into a dark movie theater. This adjustment, albeit not as dramatic, is constantly happening in competitive athletics. The difference is that in a movie theater, there is rarely any pressure to find a seat instantly. In sports, however, the faster and more accurately you can make a decision, the better.

Cooper Complete Eye Health Supplement is recommended for adults. The daily serving is two softgels (daily with a meal).

Please Note: This product contains eye nutrients only and is not a comprehensive daily multivitamin. Taking it in conjunction with the multivitamin of your choice and Advanced Omega-3 is recommended.

Reviews of Eye Health Supplement

  1. Only on my 1st bottle, and I already see an improvement with floaters. I can hardly see them at all already! I have tried other oil-based eye vitamins, but I burped fish breath, and they bothered my stomach. The Cooper Eye vitamins give me no side effects (and my cat has stopped trying to lick me in the mouth). Thank you!!

  2. Excellent product. Easy to swallow, which I appreciate.

7 Questions
Ask a Question
Q:

With age, I find I’m becoming more farsighted. Will eye supplements help?

A:

No. Presbyopia (age-related farsightedness) occurs when there’s a diminished ability to focus from distant to nearby objects. Most common in adults 40 and older, people with presbyopia have difficulty reading or seeing things at arm’s length. Unfortunately, research studies have not found benefits in taking lutein, zeaxanthin, meso-zeaxanthin, and bilberry supplements to improve presbyopia.

Q:

What is meso-zeaxanthin?

A:

Meso-zeaxanthin is a stereoisomer of zeaxanthin and a carotenoid that is found in high concentration in the macula of the eye and surrounding retinal tissue. Lutein and zeaxanthin are two other carotenoids that are also found in high concentrations in the macula. Lutein and zeaxanthin are found in a wide variety of foods (and are ingredients in Cooper Complete Eye Health Supplement), and it’s believed that meso-zeaxanthin is synthesized in the retina from lutein. These three nutrients have been studied and found to increase macular pigmentation when taken long-term.

Q:

Why does Cooper Complete Eye Health contain copper?

A:

This formulation contains 25 mg of zinc (as zinc amino acid chelate), and higher levels of zinc are known to reduce the body’s ability to absorb copper. Because of this, copper is included in this formula to ensure the body maintains a healthy level of copper.

Q:

Is it OK to take this supplement with the Cooper Complete Basic One multivitamin? Some of the ingredients overlap and I was wondering if it’s safe to take them together.

A:

All of the Cooper Complete supplements are formulated so that you can take them together. In fact, the Eye Health is formulated to work with Basic One multivitamin to meet the AREDS 2 study formulation for age-related eye disease.

Q:

Can I take this product if I am also taking Coumadin or Warfarin?

A:

If you are taking Coumadin or Warfarin, we recommend consulting your physician or INR Clinic before adding any supplements to your diet.

Q:

What is bilberry?

A:

Bilberry – popularly found in Europe in jams, cobblers, and pies – is a blue-black berry useful for maintaining healthy vision, and reducing poor night vision, cataracts and AMD.

Q:

What are Lutein and Zeaxanthin?

A:

Lutein and zeaxanthin, are carotenoids found in egg yolks, spinach, kale, collard greens, and other green vegetables. In our bodies, lutein is located within the eyes (including the macula, lens, and retina), skin, blood serum, and other tissues. While heavily concentrated in the center of the retina, in the region of maximum visual sensitivity known as the macula, lutein seems to behave as a natural sunshade for the eye. It protects the sensitive tissues of the retina against excess amounts of potential sunlight damage. Research suggests that lutein appears to filter harmful light waves along with shielding the lens of the eye from light damage.

Dietary intake may reduce the risk of developing age-related macular degeneration, a leading cause of blindness among older Americans. Research indicates that lutein may also protect the eyes from glaucoma. Lutein filters high-energy blue light that can damage the macula of the eye and skin cells. Lutein is also thought to protect the macula tissue from destructive oxidation reactions by quenching free radicals.
