Cooper Complete Elite Athlete Multivitamin & Mineral Supplement
Research has shown that strenuous aerobic exercise is associated with oxidative stress and tissue damage in the body. Exercise above the threshold levels of 150 Aerobics Points per week or working at 80 percent of your predicted maximum heart rate at least five hours per week may greatly increase the risk of your body tissues suffering from excess free radicals. The body's need for oxygen during exercise seems to produce free radicals, which can result in DNA damage, cancer, direct damage to muscle tissue, and make the cells more susceptible to aging (Antioxidant Revolution, Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper, 1994).
Cooper Complete Elite Athlete is recommended for adults ages 18 and older, who also meet the requirements stated above. The recommended dosage is four tablets taken twice daily with meals. One bottle contains a one-month supply of 240 tablets.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Why do I need to take four tablets twice a day?
Splitting the daily serving of eight tablets (four in the morning with breakfast and four in the evening with dinner) allows the body to maintain a sufficient level of the water-soluble antioxidants needed to fight off free radicals.
Do I need to take all eight tablets if I eat very healthy foods or can I just take three or four?
Take all eight. An article in the Journal of the American Medical Association, May 7, 1997, reported, "For some nutrients, the amounts proposed as being healthy apparently cannot be provided by a reasonable quantity and variety of natural foods. Thus nutrient supplements may be important for health promotion and prevention of certain chronic diseases." Taking the full dosage in addition to a healthy diet will ensure that your intake of vitamins is at the best level. (Note: If you do not consistently take all eight tablets, we recommend that you take Basic One, our daily one-tablet-a-day multivitamin and mineral formula.)
Why do all Cooper Complete multivitamin and mineral formulations have such a high dose of B12 as compared to the daily value?
One objective of Cooper Complete multivitamin and mineral supplements is to lower the homocysteine level. Research indicates excessive levels of homocysteine may increase the risk of stroke, certain types of heart disease and peripheral artery disease (disease of the blood vessels of the arms, legs and feet). Homocysteine is a breakdown product of the amino acid methionine found primarily in meats and dairy products. In a homocysteine state, it can either go back to methionine or be broken down further to cysteine, neither of which is toxic.
Our products contain preventive levels of both vitamin B12 and folic acid, which together convert homocysteine to methionine. In addition, vitamin B6 helps to convert homocysteine to cysteine. The use of folic acid alone, i.e., not compensated with adequate vitamin B12, could increase the risk of pernicious anemia.
Is there anyone who should NOT take Cooper Complete multivitamins?
A person taking Coumadin (warfarin) should not take Cooper Complete original formulations or Elite Athlete due to reported drug interactions with CoQ10 and vitamin K. Individuals who take Coumadin should choose Cooper Complete Basic One (our one-tablet-a-day multivitamin and mineral supplement) as it does not contain coenzyme Q10 or vitamin K. Always talk to your personal physician before starting any supplement regimen.
Why isn't calcium in Cooper Complete multivitamins?
Calcium requirements are dependent upon both gender and age. Because Cooper Complete multivitamins are formulated for men and women, it was best to leave calcium out of the formula.
The tablet size is too big. Can I cut or crush the tablets to make them smaller?
Yes. It is safe to crush or cut the tablets into smaller size. However, the minerals in vitamins do not taste good. Be aware that if the tablet is crushed, it will be difficult to mask the flavor if adding it to something else.
Is Cooper Complete soy, peanut, garlic, yeast, gluten, corn and pepper-free?
Yes. However, we outsource the actual production of our products to a manufacturing facility that produces other supplements. It is possible that other products run on the machines might contain any of these ingredients. While the equipment is cleaned completely between different runs in order to avoid cross contamination, the potential is still there.
Is this product dairy-free?
Yes, Cooper Complete Elite Athlete is dairy-free.
